Drummer
"Hi folks! Seth here. Yes the rumor is TRUE! I have joined forces with The Dotson Family."
Born April 26 1990 and living in the small town of Quinton Alabama, Seth is the youngest and newest member of The Dotson Family.
Seth began his musical pursuits and found a love for the drums at age four, when he traveled with his dad Dale, to a country music show he was playing guitar in. The drummer in the band gave Seth a stick and let him play along with him. Seth states, "I could only reach 1 drum and a cowbell and would play until I fell asleep on the stool." This started his drumming career.
From that beginning, Seth played with the Dora High School band and for about 1 ½ years with a Christian Rock band, where they recorded a CD at Kevin Derryberry’s studio in B’ham. Seth prides himself on being a versatile drummer who studies all styles. He also plays guitar and the mandolin from time to time. Seth states, "I am left- handed which makes it more difficult for me to learn to play most instruments." When asked who were his musical influences, Seth admits that "Doyle Lawson and Quick Silver, UnderOath, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, and George Jones are among his favorites.
Seth says, "Although drumming is one of my passions, studying Martial Arts would have to be an equal interest." He has been taking lessons since he was seven years old. He has earned a Black Belt in TaeKwondo and in Shaolin Gung Fu and is now a Certified Black Belt Instructor.
He also enjoys riding motorcycles and says he can do a ½ mile long wheelie at 90mph, although he doesn’t recommend it.
His favorite color is red, and he has a endless love of McDonalds food. Seth says, "I like to stay up late and sleep in during the mornings, and McDonalds is usually open 24 hours." When asked what's his favorite food Seth stated, "It has to be Chicken, Fries, and Sweet Tea." He continued by saying, "I'm currently a Senior at Dora High and plan on attending college in the coming fall, so I'm getting a head start on late nights and quick foods."
When Seth was asked where he was saved and baptized he stated, "I was saved at age 12 at a youth rally in Birmingham AL at Hoover Mets Stadium. I was then baptized at age 13 at Quinton Baptist Church by my Pastor, David Ellis." He currently attends that same church today. Seth says "Philippians 4:13 always sticks in my mind, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.". He also stated that, "I'll Fly Away, (playing in background) is my favorite song".
Fellow group member Christine Dotson states: "To say that Seth adds to the quality of our music is a major understatement!! From the first time we worked together on some songs, I knew he would be a major attribute to our over-all sound and performances! He has such a tremendous skill, and the professionalism of his playing is a bands dream come true!" Christine also states, "The group and I are blessed with the fact that Seth has chosen to joins us!!
And speaking of our sound, it's cool to have a young man who has a little "bluegrass" in his blood! - No wonder he fits in!!"
We're sure you'll be hearing more from Seth very soon....Y'all are gonna love him!!
Thanks Seth for being part of "The Dotson Family!"
Seth states, "I'm extremely excited and honored to be a part of The Dotson Family! Each musician in the band is super talented and, when we are brought together as a whole, the sound alone is a blessing!" He continued by saying, "I really enjoy traveling and playing with The Dotson Family. I pray that the Lord will continue to use me to play music for Him all my life."
Seth states, "I want to thank Christine, Archie, Carol, Ken, and Darrell for making me feel welcome, and to be part of something that is very close to my heart - making music that makes everybody feel good, and
By the way....thanks Mom & Dad!"
